Urinary Tract Infection Testing
Urinary Tract Infections are one of the most common bacterial infections treated in the
United States. Worldwide, the number of UTI cases is estimated at 150 million per year. According to the National Kidney Foundation, one in five U.S. women will have at least one UTI in their lifetime. [1]
- Here are some of the signs and symptoms an individual may experience with a urinary tract infection:
- Dysuria (painful urination)
- Frequency (frequent urination)
- Urgency (the urge to urinate immediately)
- Hematuria (presence of blood in urine)
- 5 most common pathogens associated with urinary tract infections:
o Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Enterococcus faecalis, and Staphylococcus saprophyticus
